Tikehau is called the pink sand island because of it pink and white sand
beaches that border the turquoise lagoon of Tikehau. On the motus
located in the lagoon you will be able to spot flocks of birds bearing
strange and wonderful names such as the red-footed boobie, great crested
tern, blue-grey noddies and lesser frigate. Tikehau is an almost
circular atoll with an interior lagoon that is 16 miles across that is
teeming with marine life.
